Lead Workshop

Are you ready to take the next step in your climbing progression? Interested in learning how to lead climb outdoors but not sure where to start? OVERhang’s Indoor Lead Workshop is designed to give you the foundational skills to understand lead climbing systems and prepare for real-world sport climbing.

This workshop takes place indoors and includes supervised practice on real lead climbs. You'll learn and apply essential techniques with the support of an experienced instructor, helping you build confidence before heading outdoors.

While our facility is equipped for lead climbing, it is only permitted during OVERhang-run instructional programs

Topics include:

• How and when to clip properly
• Rope management and slack control
• Fall dynamics and catching a lead fall
• Communication and safety checks
• Understanding lead belay techniques
• Outdoor sport climbing considerations

Workshops run 3-3.5 hours in length with a maximum instructor-to-participant ratio of 1:6. A minimum of two participants is required to run the workshop.

Cost: $100.00 plus GST
Age requirement: 18 years and older
Prerequisites: Must have a current top-rope belay certification

A completed waiver is required to participate in this workshop.
