Job Title: First Aid Instructor

Location: OVERhang Education Centre

Overview: OVERhang is seeking a qualified and dynamic First Aid Instructor to deliver Red Cross and WorkSafe BC first aid training courses to our staff and community. This position involves leading classes, maintaining certifications, and ensuring that all participants receive high-quality, engaging, and informative first aid training. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering Red Cross and WorkSafe BC First Aid courses to staff, coaches, and the general public.
• Developing and implementing lesson plans to meet program requirements and safety standards.
• Ensuring that all participants understand and can apply first aid techniques, including CPR, wound care, and emergency response strategies
• Keeping accurate records of training sessions, certifications, and participant details.
• Providing ongoing support and answering any questions about first aid procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards, first aid regulations, and industry best practices.
• Maintaining up-to-date certifications and knowledge of first aid practices.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is passionate about health and safety, with a strong commitment to teaching and training others. You are a clear communicator who is comfortable leading groups and confident in emergency response situations. You have a solid understanding of both Red Cross and WorkSafe BC first aid training materials and certifications, and be enthusiastic about creating an environment where all participants feel equipped and empowered to respond to emergencies.

• Leadership: Ability to manage groups, facilitate discussions, and lead practical demonstrations.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to assess situations and offer clear, actionable solutions to first aid-related challenges.
• Adaptability: Able to adjust training delivery to meet different learning styles and participant needs.
• Commitment to Safety: A strong belief in promoting safety and well-being in every aspect of training.

The First Aid Instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering first aid courses, including securing necessary materials, and ensuring that each class meets Red Cross and WorkSafe BC standards.
You will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and confidence-building in emergency situations.
In addition to delivering courses, the instructor may also be asked to provide ongoing training updates, assist with staff emergency drills, and ensure compliance with company safety protocols.
The instructor will serve as a resource for any questions regarding first aid emergencies or procedures within the gym.

Qualifications:

Red Cross and WorkSafe BC First Aid Instructor certifications.
Previous experience as a first aid instructor with a current instructor ticket.
Experience in emergency response or health and safety training.
Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with a diverse range of individuals.
Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
