Duration: 2 days (1 day or 8 hours classroom, and 1 day in the mountains, accessed by touring skis/skins or snowshoes). The class will be hosted in Prince George and Pine Pass area unless otherwise identified.
By the end of this introductory course, you will understand how to:
Participants must have backcountry touring skis and skins, or snowshoes with cleats, and basic avy gear (shovel, probe, and digital transceiver). We can rent you avalanche gear if let us know in advance.
Participants under the age of 19 must register with a parent that will accompany them as a full participant.
It is also possible that participants will be responsible for purchasing a one-up pass at Powder King, which has previously cost approximately $30. A one-up pass allows instructors and participants to quickly gain access to suitable terrain for training, without losing an hour or two skinning up the mountain - which means more time learning and practicing avalanche skills!
